what we are growing

It has finally gotten warm enough for a garden! Our little seedlings that have been languishing on the screened in porch were put in the ground this weekend.

The kids had a great time helping us plant, they also had a great time stepping on plants...

We planted 21 tomato plants. So by summer's end we should have about a quart.
Because Josie and Del think we plant tomatoes for them to snack on.

We planted plenty of herbs, squash, zucchini, beans, cucumbers and lettuce.
Around the edges we have raspberries. None of which will make it into the house.
Because I think raspberries are best eaten right off the plant.

In the front of the house we planted more tomatoes among our flowers, along with some peppers and a couple watermelon plants. We do not have a large yard. We just have large ideas.

We also seem to be growing toads. We have a toad couple that has taken up residence in our strawberries. They tend to hang out by the little pond, and sometimes pop up in the back garden. Josie loves the toads. She would bring the toads to bed with her if I would allow it. But I am mean and I won't.

This week we'll be making toad houses out of clay pots. They will be fancy. Especially with Josie making them. Oo la la!

Wish I could be there to help you enjoy some of the vegies and fruit! Not the toads though! Ugh. Mama after my own heart - I wouldn't let her sleep with it either!

Very cool! I'm impressed that Josie holds the toads so gently. Will & Louis try to chase them down and squash them!
