A Big Tomato!

There we were, minding our own business, hoping for rain to cool the muggy day, when out of nowhere Mike comes in from the porch telling me to "Get the kids in the basement! Now!"

A tornado came right down our street, touched down on quite a few houses, took some roof from the middle school three blocks away and had friends and family calling us into the night making sure we were ok. There had been a tornado watch, but it had expired long before the storm touched down.

Our family is fine, we had an adventure sitting in the basement. Since electricity stayed off for most of the night we had ice cream by candle light followed by a dramatic reading of Farmer Boy by Laura Ingles Wilder.

As Mikey tells it, "We had a biiiiig tomato! It took the roof off the school by the park! We ate ice cream and had candles. It was fun, but I don't want another tomato! They are scary!"

If you would like to see pictures, check out Molly and Beth's posts on the storm.

But most importantly, join us in praying for the families affected by this storm.

Wow! I didn't even know there was any kind of storm till I read your blog! I'm glad you're all OK. In all the years we lived there, there was never a tomato - for which I'm glad!
