Summer breakfasts

Since for the all too brief moment we don't have anywhere to go in the mornings or anything important to do.

Since checking out People's Pops at the library re-invigorated my love of all fruit popsicles.

Since we have strawberries, basil and balsamic vinegar.

We have decided to have breakfast with toast, popsicles, and chickens.

chickens on the side? will your chickens lay eggs for eating? they don't look like hens and while I haven't counted all your chickens, I also don't really know any much about chickens. I was never in 4-H. I don't know if it matters whether or not they've come home to roost. I was wondering how you're going to keep them in the winter? They need to be kept warm and probably warmer than your basement and garage might be during the cold months. It's cool that you have chickens, especially if they'll lay eggs. I can't eat cereal or breads for the gluten so I eat a couple of eggs every morning and perhaps they'll augment my already high cholesterol. :-)

We have three chickens - and we are hoping they all stay chickens, but one is looking suspiciously rooster-like. Which would be bad because then we'd have to eat him. Mike is building a coop this week for them. They are only three weeks old so they're starting to enter that awkward teenage time of life where everything grows at a different rate and they are just not cute anymore! We'll keep them in an outdoor coop, from what I understand they do ok with the cold if they have shelter, food and water. I can't say we're keeping them for the eggs because when they do start laying, it will only be about 1 a day, tops. That's not quite enough for our family! We are just keeping them for fun.
